Does the city require a porta potty on my build?
Plan on yes. Lubbock adopted the 2021 International Plumbing Code with local amendments, and IPC section 311.1 says toilet facilities shall be provided for construction workers and kept sanitary. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51 sets how many: 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers, then 1 seat and 1 urinal per 40.
| Crew | OSHA 1926.51 minimum | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | 1 toilet | 1 unit, weekly |
| 11–20 | 1 toilet | 2 units, weekly |
| 21–40 | 1 seat + 1 urinal per 40 | 3–4 units, weekly |
| 41–80 | 2 seats + 2 urinals | 5–8 units, or fewer with twice-weekly service |
| 200+ | 1 seat + 1 urinal per 50 | Site plan |

How does a $165 jobsite rental work?
A standard jobsite unit starts at $165 per 28-day cycle in Lubbock, with delivery and one service a week included. A $29 removal fee is charged once, when you call for pickup. There's no contract, so keep it one cycle or ten. Billing stops at the end of the cycle when you call.
| Invoice | Example: 1 unit, 10-week house build | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Cycle 1 $165 + fuel $29.95 | $194.95 |
| Day 29 | Cycle 2 $165 | $165.00 |
| Day 57 | Cycle 3 $165 | $165.00 |
| Pickup | Removal $29 | $29.00 |
| Total before tax | 10 weekly services included | $553.95 |
A general contractor called because "the codes enforcement requires that I have a porta potty there for the workers," then joked about keeping the unit forever to skip the $29 pickup fee. You can. There's no contract, and the unit stays until you call.
Where should the unit sit on a Lubbock lot?
Put the unit at the front of the lot within about 10 feet of the street, where our truck can reach it on service day. Keep it clear of the slab, the dumpster and material drops, and out of the alley travel lane. On open new-build lots, it gets staked against wind.
- Visible to the inspector from the street
- Off the slab and out of the concrete truck's path
- At the alley edge, never in the alley lane
- Staked on open lots; door away from the south wind
- Moved as the build changes. Just text us
What callers ask before they book
Every question below was asked on a real rental call. The short answer comes first, then the conditions that change it.
Does the city require a porta potty on my build?
Lubbock adopted the 2021 International Plumbing Code, and section 311.1 says toilet facilities shall be provided for construction workers and kept sanitary. OSHA 1926.51 sets the counts for employers. Builders who skip it get flagged. Ask your inspector what they expect on your permit.
How many toilets for my crew?
OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51 requires 1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers, then 1 seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers up to 199. We recommend 1 unit per 10 workers on a 40-hour week with weekly service, which keeps lines and odor down.
What's your basic monthly fee?
A standard jobsite unit starts at $165 per 28-day cycle. That includes delivery inside our local area and one pump, clean and restock every week. A $29 removal fee is charged once at the end. There's no contract, and billing stops at the end of the cycle when you call.
What's the pickup fee for?
The $29 removal fee covers the final trip, pump-out and haul-back. It's charged once, when the job ends, not every month. Event packages already include pickup.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. The minimum is one 28-day cycle. After that it rolls cycle to cycle until you call for pickup. Keep it a month or a year.
Can my company get an account?
Yes. Business accounts get emailed invoices with your PO or job number, one portal for every unit, and a single contact for add-ons and pickups across multiple sites.
Will the wind blow it over?
Not when it's set right. Lubbock averages about 12.4 mph wind, and spring gusts and dust storms can top 60 mph, so we stake or strap units on open lots and face doors away from the south wind. Never untie a staked unit to move it.
